Hi, I’m Irene.

About Me Photo

Welcome to The Paracosm of Irene.

A paracosm is an imaginary world. I had one when I was a kid.

I was always highly imaginative, and I’ve always been a dreamer. Unfortunately, life required me to be an adult for many years, so those dreams became just that—dreams. I had forgotten about them until this year, when I finally chose to prioritize my peace.

When my peace slowly emerged, albeit my situation still pretty rocky at the moment, my dreams resurfaced as well.

This website is my way of finding that part of myself again. Not by escaping reality, but by creating a life that feels peaceful, meaningful, and true to who I am.

When I started this blog, I was at one of the lowest points in my life. Truthfully, I still am. Almost everything was stripped from me. I decided to turn my life around and start over, and this blog is where I’ll document that journey, in hopes that maybe I can help someone else who is going through the same situation I am.

Most of what I write about revolves around mental health, living with ADHD, and creativity. Sometimes those things overlap. Sometimes they don’t. If something helps me understand myself a little better or build a more peaceful life, chances are I’ll end up writing about it.

I’ve always been allowed to be curious. If something catches my attention, I like to learn everything I can about it. I don’t think curiosity is something you grow out of, and I hope I never do.

More than anything, though, I want people to feel understood.

Being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world isn’t always easy. I know how exhausting it can be to feel like you’re constantly trying to explain yourself or fit into spaces that weren’t built with you in mind. If you’ve ever felt that way, I hope you find something here that reminds you you’re not alone.

I also believe that life doesn’t have to be performative. We don’t have to pretend everything is perfect or that we’ve got it all figured out. Some of the most meaningful changes happen quietly, through ordinary days and small choices that slowly become a different life.

To me, a good life means having peace and being a good person. A person can be nice, but not good. I’ve always tried to live my life with honesty and integrity, and those are values I hope you’ll find reflected throughout this website.
